Making Dreams a Reality: Sri Lanka to Canada Migration Tips

So, Are you tired of living in Sri Lanka and thinking to move to Canada soon? Well, get ready because I have got some stories and tips to share from my experience.

Canada is an amazing country to live and work with its stunning sceneries, diverse cultures and great hospitality. So, lets talk about how I made my way to Canada and what I have learned along the way.

1. Doing Your Homework: First things first, you got to do your research. I spent hours online digging into immigration info. You can simply go to here to find the best option for you. The website has all the information you need whether you apply permanent residency, student, work, visitor visa options. YouTube has many videos on migration, personal stories as well.

2. Immigration Process: Okay, so getting into Canada isn’t easy. I tried a few immigrating companies located in Colombo, however, finally ended up with Pathe Visa Global through the Express Entry system – based on my qualifications and work experience. It is a bit of paperwork, police reports and medicals but they are the by far the best you can find in Colombo I can recommend!

If you want to know more about the process feel free to send me a message.

3. Getting Comfortable: Settling in Canada takes a bit of time as everything is new – the weather, the people! However, Canadians are friendly and finding your Sri Lankan friends can also help you feel at home much quicker than you would think.

4. Embracing the Culture: Canada being the most multicultural country in the world, there is a variety of cultural events and activities happening on daily basis. From trying out poutine to cheering to a hockey game, there is so much to dive into.

5. Finding Work: Now, let’s talk jobs. Finding work might take a while if you are changing professions when you are in Canada or it depends on the region you live in as well. Networking, updating your resume to Canadian standards, and maybe even getting some extra qualifications and experience before you leave the country can give you a leg up. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!

6. Exploring the Great Outdoors: Canada has some incredible sceneries all through out the year. I’ve gone hiking, camping in autumn and paddled on beautiful lakes. Nature is good for the soul.

Moving to Canada is not always easy. Whether you’re chasing job opportunities, cultural experiences, or just a change of scenery, this place has something for everyone. So, if you’re thinking about making the leap, go for it! You might just find your new favorite home away from home.
